Live and Give

Here are some products I believe in that inspire, support livelihoods, and help sustain this world.

For me, a great investment for practicing yoga is a really good, sustainable, and durable yoga mat. You can practice in expensive yoga clothes or none at all, but you wouldn’t be able to practice comfortably without a reliable yoga mat.

I personally use the Manduka Pro Lite mat for my self-practice and two Manduka EkoLite travel mats for my private classes. I love these mats, especially the Pro and Pro Lite series, as they are great for gripping, eco-friendly made from natural rubber, and have a lifetime guarantee – which is accurate. I couldn’t even plan on buying a new yoga mat anytime soon because my current one is still in great shape, 4 years running! They are on the pricey side compared to other brands available out there, but they’re a great investment if you can foresee yourself practicing yoga for a few years to the end of your lifetime.

You can purchase Manduka mats at Certified Calm stores in Bonifacio High Street and Powerplant Mall.

KLEAN KANTEEN

It has become an important habit for me to keep hydrated at all times. I personally prefer cold water as living in a tropical country, warm or room-temperature water makes me feel warmer. That’s why I love Klean Kanteen because it keeps my beverages at a certain temperature for up to 48 hours for cold drinks and around 18-20 hours for hot drinks! (The range depends on the size of bottle you choose.)

There are a lot of options to choose from – ranging from bold and sleek colors to match your personality, to volume sizes, and even handling.  They keep working on improvements each year too – lengthening the temperature hold in their insulated bottles to this year’s innovation of more durable and scratch-chip-resistant Klean Coat finish.

I love it so much that I even influenced my siblings to purchase their own last year and they are very satisfied with its performance.

Another great reason to love Klean Kanteen is that it’s eco-friendly and its use encourages us to lessen the waste we would otherwise be adding to if we keep buying plastic cups, covers, and straws with our meals. Last year, they introduced the Klean Kanteen steel straws too so it’s easier to say no to extra plastic. It’s a small investment for a cleaner future and a healthier planet.

TOMS

One of my favorite brands of all time is TOMS. When I first heard about it in 2006, I was immediately drawn to its design, concept, and advocacy. Every time you purchase a TOMS shoes, the company gives a pair to a kid in need in impoverished areas. The shoes allow them to protect their feet as they take on their responsibilities like going to school, playing with kids, helping their parents with chores. Imagine being a child walking unpaved roads to school wearing your old dilapidated shoes because your parents’ limited funds are allocated for more important things. It’s true that the shoes may not be a priority but it is a great help for these kids who are our future.

Since starting the company in 2006, TOMS has expanded its advocacy to helping people with their sight, providing clean water, and improving safe child birth for mothers in impoverished countries.

Check out their website for more information on how you can help. Giving back as you live your life. “One for one,” as TOMS motto goes.
