Teaching Pillars

  • Grace

Mindful movement with the breath and intentionally slowing down, allows you to find ease in the body you currently have. The integration of mind, body, and spirit can help to nurture deep gratitude for yourself and develop a graceful presence that emanates and spreads in daily life.

  • Strength

Pushing through comfort zones encourages you to develop strength and courage in the midst of discomfort and challenges. No matter what style of yoga you practice — active or passive — strength of mind, body, and heart can be cultivated through knowing yourself deeply.

  • Joy

Remembering joy in the practice is very important. There is no need to take every thing so seriously as it simply builds up more tension and rigidity in the body, mind, and heart. Instead, smiling through difficulties and celebrating your wins can encourage you to deeply enjoy and find meaning in each moment of life.

“Life is full of suffering.

It is also full of the overcoming of it.”

— Jack Kornfield, Buddhist Psychologist and Meditation Teacher

Anna Manalastas discovered the benefits of yoga at a very stressful time in her life. Her passion for the practice was ignited during a chance Ashtanga Yoga class taught by her teacher, Maitri. The discipline, challenge, and focus she experienced allowed her to connect more deeply with herself in the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects. It made her come alive and inspired her to pursue this path with gusto so she can continue to nurture and grow in her journey towards healing, integration, and compassion, and equally, to share the gifts of the practice with others.

She graduated from her 300-Hour Vinyasa Yoga teacher training in 2012 under Clayton Horton and Anna Carbonell at Beyond Yoga Quezon City.

She continues to evolve in her practice and teaching through furthering her studies on yoga and its philosophies, which she actively shares in her classes. She travels all around the world to explore different yoga styles and to take part in continuing education programs, yoga conferences and workshops, meditation classes, and teacher trainings. She is certified to teach Basic Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin Yoga, and Pregnancy Yoga.

In June 2015, Anna graduated from the 100-hour Mindful Birth Teacher Training program in Hong Kong, under Michelle Papa and Dr. Jean Byrne. Through this program, Anna became a certified Pre-Natal Yoga, Post-Natal Yoga, and Yoga for Active Birth teacher. Her pregnancy classes focus on relaxation techniques, breath and body awareness, and developing mindfulness and compassion between the mother and her growing baby.

In November 2017, Anna embarked on a journey to the United States to train under Budokon founder, Kancho Cameron Shayne and Melayne Shayne. She took her 50-hour Budokon Yoga teacher training with them in Miami and became an official Budokon Yoga teacher in February 2018. Every two years, she maintains her certification and has renewed it in February 2020 and January 2022.

In October 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Anna finished a meditation course headed by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach called, “The Power of Awareness.” She received her certificate in February 2021.

In September 2021, Anna was awarded the “Yoga Trainer of the Year” award in two categories, “National: Philippines” and “Regional: Selected Areas in South-East Asia.”

In September 2022, Anna was certified to teach Budokon Mobility by Kancho Cameron Shayne and Melayne Shayne.
