We warmly invite you to practice mindfulness in the tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh as Plum Village monastics lead this retreat. So timely, this retreat hopes to share the practice of meditation and how this could radiate into the society around us. It is also a wonderful opportunity for those who have joined us in the last 6 years of the Plum Village tradition in the Philippines, to come together, celebrate and renew spiritual friendships and journeys. The retreat is open to beginners.

The retreat is designed for both beginners and advanced meditation practitioners, to fully enjoy the practice of breathing and integrate it into daily activities. This is the sixth annual full retreat conducted in the Philippines by visiting Plum Village monks and nuns.Benefit from teachings and practices available with this opportunity: As meditation heals our physical and mental well-being, the special sense of community in this retreat also brings joy and love. It brings us the benefits of a healthy body and mind by combining sitting and walking meditation, mindful eating of vegetarian food, spiritual nourishment through Dharma talks, and total relaxation. The Plum Village experience is more than a vacation; it helps us deal with our everyday stress and worries.

REGISTRATION FEE: Php 5,000
Includes:
– Meals starting dinner of November 16 until lunch of November 19
– Accommodations (4 in a room, males and females separate)

Frequently Asked Questions:
– May I attend starting only on Friday afternoon? This is possible, but there will no difference in registration fee this year, as we need to book all the hotel rooms for the entire duration of the retreat.

– May I get my own room, or not share the room with others? This may be possible, but on additional costs, and will need to be arranged with the organizer separately.

– Participants will have to arrange their own transportation to the retreat venue. Information on taking public bus/vehicles be available upon request.

NOTE: Payment of registration fees will be via bank deposit to the retreat secretariat. The bank account details will be made available in an email message after a confirmed registration.

WHO WILL LEAD THE RETREAT?

The retreat will be conducted by a delegation of 4 monastics from Plum Village Hong Kong – Asian Institute of Applied Buddhism, led by Bhikkhu Thich Chan Phap Kham. Bhikku (Buddhist monk) Thich Chan Phap Kham has been a student of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh since 1987. He was ordained a novice monk in 1998, a fully ordained monk in 2000 and a Dharma teacher in 2004. A native of Vietnam, he immigrated to the United States in 1979, studied, and worked as an electronics engineer from 1983-1997. From 1998 to 2004, he practiced at Plum Village’s monasteries in France and in the United States. Since 2005, as member of a team of Plum Village’s Dharma teachers practicing in Asia, he has led retreats and helped establish community of practices in Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia. He currently serves as Director of Asian Institute of Applied Buddhism in Hong Kong, a center for Applied Buddhism Studies and Practices in the Tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh and Plum Village. ADVISORIES

> Participants are encouraged to wear simple, loose, comfortable and non-revealing clothing throughout the retreat. Being a Buddhist or vegetarian and shaving your hair are NOT required for you to participate. The retreat will be done entirely in English.
Participants are asked to bring their own yoga mat, meditation cushion, towel, water bottle, umbrella/raincoat, insect repellent, flashlight.
> As much as the organizers prefer a vegan diet, the retreat meals will be lacto-ovo-vegetarian. Food may contain eggs, milk, dairy products, soy and gluten. Vegan, raw, and non-gluten options will be made available, but allergies to certain ingredients need to be monitored by the participants themselves.
> Pollen and/or other airborne allergens may trigger attacks of asthma or other health conditions. Participants with these conditions need to prepare their own medications.
