January 2020 was such an eventful and impactful start to the new year.
So many ups, downs, bends, twists, turns, rising, and falling.
It was both hard to bear and beautiful to behold.

Last week was all about recuperating because I fell ill suddenly for the first time in years! (I even had to search for my manual mercury thermometer cause all my digital ones have no more battery! 🙈) Rest and solitude are really essential for healing and I enjoyed every minute of it. It’s been so busy in my neck of the woods that I’ve been forced to reflect on my priorities so I can allocate my energy accordingly. Self-care is high on the list and I’ve really been setting some time aside for that but for some reason, it doesn’t seem to be enough. Some pampering here and there doesn’t cut it anymore and it makes me wonder how else I could fill my own cup.
It wasn’t until the Plum Village retreat last weekend that I was reminded that I didn’t need to fill up my self-care time with more activities like spa dates and massages. All I needed to recharge from deep within is a couple of hours of intentional mindfulness - mindful walking, mindful eating, noble silence.
There is great healing in the simplest of things and it’s always available for us anytime. Even in the busy-ness of life, we can be steady in the storm by anchoring ourselves in breathing and awakeness.
